CAGNANO VARANO - APULIA - SOUTH ITALY
Cagnano Varano is part of the National Park of Gargano. The Gargano National Park covers an area of about 120 thousand hectares, which mix a great quantity of unique natural habitats. Mediterranean maquis, coastal lagoons and hills are only some of the unmistakable features of the area that surrounds Cagnano Varano and areas, to it, bordering. In fact, Cagnano Varano, rises on a spur of the Gargano between century old woods and a crystalline sea, positioned on a calcareous rock rich of caves and caverns. There is a part of the landscape that is hidden in the light of the sun: the underground cavities. These caves are characterised by a landscape mostly mineral, in the dark more absolute and relative next to the saturation. An example is the cave of San Michele Arcangelo.
